What is your educational experience?

Kerry is a Head teacher of a Primary School in Leicester. Kerry is a passionate advocate of mental health and wellbeing, with her school being the first in the Country to achieve gold status in the mental health in schools award and is the only Primary School to hold a Princess Royal Training Award.
In 2018 Kerry's school achieved its first ever GOOD Ofsted judgement and consistently achieved progress results in the top 2% nationally, despite being in an area of high deprivation.

Kerry is currently undertaking a Masters in Leadership of Mental Health in Schools and is a national SMSC Award verifier. She also recently became a Fellow of the Chartered College of Teaching for her work in education.

Can you tell me a bit about yourself and what motivates you?

Promoting quality learning experiences is what motivates me – everyone is a learner and a leader (pupils and teachers)! Every child should be able to access a quality education to develop their full potential.

Kerry's areas of interest include school improvement, leadership, mental health and wellbeing and PSHCE. She has presented at national conferences including the 2020 Education/Bett Show on mental health and has worked on a series of films with BBC Teach.

What do you like doing outside of work?

I am currently studying a masters in the leadership of mental health in schools. I am also a trustee on the board of my daughter’s gymnastics academy - it is great to see the value of sports in children’s lives!
