I have worked in teaching for the last 15 years; first as a classroom teacher, then as a Key Stage One Leader and most recently as a Deputy Head. I have had the opportunity to lead different subject areas including
Maths and phonics as well as being responsible for developing whole-school approaches to growth mindset and supporting the development of teaching and learning. Throughout my entire career, I have acted as a mentor to many different teachers in different situations and enjoy supporting others and helping them to develop their skills and confidence.
I have a degree in Music, a Primary PGCE and a postgraduate qualification as a Maths Specialist (MAST).
I love to be creative and to inspire others whether it be children or other colleagues. I am a very reflective practitioner and always look for ways to improve my own and others’ practices. I want to inspire people to be the best versions of themselves, to try something new and to improve outcomes for all learners.
I specialise in maths, having led and developed the teaching and learning of maths at my previous two schools. I am also passionate about using growth mindset approaches within schools both in the classroom and in the wider school context. I have also been responsible for the development and assessment of phonics.
I am a mum to one little boy and love spending time with him out in our garden. We also recently moved to a new house and have taken on major renovations, so we are always on with some form of DIY! When I get time to myself, I love to create scrapbooks. As part of this, I design for several scrapbooking companies, showcasing their products.
