Could you tell me a bit about yourself and what motivates you?

I am a values driven school leader who is committed to improving educational provision for all pupils. My own educational philosophy is underpinned by a commitment to developing excellence in education because I believe that all pupils should experience a high quality, enriched learning experience which fosters engagement and a life long love for learning. As a leader, I am motivated by enabling others to reflect on, and improve, their own practice. I am passionate about high quality teaching and learning and place this at the centre of all that I do. I am an extremely motivated individual and enjoy challenges!

What is your educational experience?

I am currently Head Teacher of a primary school which serves a diverse community with a high proportion of pupils receiving Pupil Premium and who are EAL or SEND. Our school is very special because we provide high quality provision which results in all pupils achieving the high standards expected of them. In previous roles, I have taught across KS1 and KS2 and have been a Phase Leader, Assistant Head Teacher and Deputy Head Teacher. I have also gained school improvement experience as a result of providing school to school support, and have shared best practice at county-wide conferences.

What is your educational specialism?

I specialise in the leadership of teaching and learning, in particular: developing a culture of high expectations, behaviours for learning, formative assessment and creative curriculum. I have experience of leading transformational change at a whole school level and have achieved this through ensuring learning (for both pupils and staff) is the core business of the organisation. I am a visionary leader and I enjoy utilising my skill-set to develop high quality school improvement planning and self-evaluation. I plan for change in an incremental way and am able to break very ambitious strategic plans down into systematic, achievable steps.

What do you like doing outside of work?

I enjoy going to the theatre (particularly musicals) and concerts. My hobbies are swimming, reading and I love shopping. During school holidays I often travel with my family, and I particularly enjoy learning about different cultures and countries.
