Developing Strong Senior Mental Health Leadership in Schools is a practical and evidence-informed course that will enable you to deepen your skills and knowledge, to embed and sustain a strong, long-term strategic approach to mental health and wellbeing in your whole school setting.

This course covers the following DFE Senior Mental Health Lead principles: Leadership and management, identifying need and monitoring impact of interventions, staff development, creating an ethos and environment and curriculum teaching and learning.
The programme will follow the below structure.
Preparation - School audit
Before day 1, you will be provided with access to a 1 hour on-demand course on 'how to complete a whole school audit'. You must allow adequate time to watch the course and to complete the audit in school (3-6 hours). Please note the audit must be completed before your attendance to day 1.
Day 1 - Activity day
With your audit completed, you will attend a trainer-led activity day, including a coaching workshop which will support in creating a plan. It is imperative that you bring your completed audit with you, ideally in digital form.
Day 2 - Group coaching and peer learning session
You will attend a 1.5 hour online group coaching session where you can share and learn from other delegates on the course, as well as gain coaching and feedback from the trainer to further your strategic planning and thinking around your whole school approach to Mental Health.
Day 3 - Activity day
A second full day with our trainer, to further develop your whole school approach to ensure it is cohesive and you have a strong strategic plan in place, against the eight principles of Public Health England's "Whole School Approach to Mental Health in Schools"
Day 4 - Personalised coaching
You will attend a 1 hour personalised virtual coaching session on creating your plan. The date and time for your coaching session will be agreed by the trainer during day 3.
In addition to the above, you will be provided with ongoing email support across the programme.
