About this course

Updated as a response to Ofsted's 2021 subject inspections, research reviews, blogs, updated webinars, and our own experiences from two years of the new framework.

With a focus on small group workshops, our Leading Foundation Subjects in the New Ofsted Inspection Framework primary CPD course will give you the tools to confidently drive performance and improve standards and outcomes. We will also unpick what Ofsted now expects of Foundation Subject Leaders.

The first part of the day is about sharing our understanding of exceptional practice. The afternoon is a more tailored ‘surgery’ for you as a subject leader, focusing on developing strategies that fit into your school’s circumstances.

By attending this training, you will be supported to:

  • Develop a cohesive vision for your subject across your school and wider curriculum, in line with the expectations of the new Ofsted Inspection Framework.
  • Organise your provision for progression and sequencing through the objectives of the National Curriculum.
  • Revisit, review and improve your Subject Action Plan.
  • Consider provision for different groups within the school, with a focus on Pupil Premium and SEND.
  • Look at the links between subjects to strengthen your whole-school curriculum.
  • Plan how to implement your next steps for outstanding leadership of your subject at your school.

You will return to your school with guidance on completing an audit of current practice and your own personalised next steps.

Audience:

  • Foundation Subject Leaders (primary history, geography, RE, music, art, DT, computing, PE, etc.)
  • KS1 and KS2
