We often joke that children know more about computers than adults; this can lead to a crippling lack of confidence among teachers, and the issue has been exacerbated by the 2014 Curriculum’s shift in focus away from traditional software literacy, towards programming and computer science.
We live in a computer-based world. It is absolutely vital that our children understand how computers work, how to use them, and how to stay safe around them. But many schools struggle with the National Curriculum because of teacher confidence and a lack of equipment; they also have less time to teach the traditional software literacy that is so important for research and presentation across the rest of the curriculum.
