About this course

We live in a computer-based world. It is absolutely vital that our children understand how computers work, how to use them, and how to stay safe around them. But many schools struggle with the National Curriculum because of teacher confidence and a lack of equipment; they also have less time to teach the traditional software literacy that is so important for research and presentation across the rest of the curriculum.

This one-hour on-demand course looks at the difference between the programming of ‘computer science’ and the software fluency of ‘digital literacy’, and suggests a range of ways to push standards up in both without drowning in the ‘fear’! The training will:

  • Increase your confidence in programming concepts and terminology
  • Offer easy-to-implement strategies and activities to improve teaching and learning
  • Link computing concepts and learning to other areas of the curriculum.

Audience:

This course is appropriate for primary schools.

  • Class teachers and teaching assistants (all years)
  • Computing coordinators, curriculum leads
  • Senior leadership
