Raising Attainment in Primary History: Day 2

Aimed at leaders who have already attended our popular Raising Attainment in Primary History course, this training brings together a collection of new ideas and strategies which will further improve the quality of history in your school.

  • Develop a more ‘intelligent’ curriculum design
  • Explore the idea of ‘disciplinary knowledge’
  • Get your children to talk about history!

About this INSET

This course is aimed at history coordinators who want to further improve the quality of this important subject in their schools. Along with a range of new ideas, including the very latest thinking from Ofsted and educational researchers, the training draws on and develops ideas from three short courses: Composites and Components; Disciplinary Knowledge in History; and Thirty Second Challenge.

By attending this course you will:

  • Use Ofsted’s own curriculum design model to develop a more sophisticated history provision in your school
  • Find out what ‘disciplinary knowledge’ means in history, and how you can teach it
  • Explore practical games and activities that support your children in historical talk, and push them towards ‘greater depth’

Audience:

  • SLT, curriculum leads, history coordinators
  • Primary, Middle and Special schools
