About this course

The new Ofsted Framework is having a big effect on the way schools view Foundation subjects. Raising Attainment in History shares a vision for history lessons that have purpose and impact.

As School Improvement Provider of the Year for the third year running, we are perfectly placed to share exciting ideas and practice from around the country. Delegates will explore how history teaching can develop children’s critical and analytical skills, making them safer and more empowered in the modern world. You will also come away with engaging and inspiring approaches to drive up standards, and improve vocabulary acquisition and retention.

The training will help you:

  • Design a relevant and purposeful history curriculum that is right for your school
  • Implement cross-curricular approaches that do not compromise on standards
  • Ensure progression in skills but also through content
  • Understand what ‘greater depth’ looks like in history.

This course is appropriate for primary schools.

  • Teachers & TAs - KS1 & KS2
  • Subject Leaders
  • Senior Leadership Team

"An amazing and engaging session with lots of practical ideas and suggestions about how to implement these at my school. It was also good to hear case studies of schools implementing different strategies. I feel much more confident about 'deep dive' now!"

Charlynne Bryan, History Subject Leader, Curwen Primary School, London

"The training was thoroughly useful to aid and assist the development of a rich history curriculum . It had all the components necessary to equip me to implement these changes at my school."

Hannah Hogberg, Humanities Lead, Camrose Primary School, London

"The course was packed with content but with plenty of opportunity for discussion and to ask questions. It covered a lot of the current difficult areas for schools regarding the requirements for teaching history"

Sarah Craig, Humanities Lead, Bede Academy
