Welcoming Pupils Back – Reflecting on a Revised Curriculum

September is always difficult for children because of the sudden move back into school routines; it’s even harder for vulnerable children, or those whose home life is challenging and unpredictable. How much more so, then, after half a year without their peers and teachers? This course is full of practical ideas to help you explore:

  • How to support pupil and staff wellbeing and mental health
  • Effective assessment to help children keep up
  • Reviewing your curriculum and making agile adjustments to meet the needs of your pupils
  • The positives that we might draw from the shut-down period

About this course

We face a momentous task when our children return from a half-year’s absence. Many will have accessed our teaching remotely and benefited from enthusiastic support at home; others have had little routine or discipline, and will have fallen a long way behind their academic potential. This course is designed to help you reflect on your current plans, and draw on great practice and case studies from schools across the UK.

This full day course will help you and your staff prepare for the biggest challenge of our careers. We will cover:

  • Relevant guidance, advice and research.
  • Safeguarding, health and safety, wellbeing and emotional support.
  • Raising the profile of PSHE to restore learning environments and help your children’s resilience, behaviour and attitudes.
  • Practical ideas to help your children settle back - and settle back quickly.

  • School leaders
  • Curriculum and subject leads
  • Class teachers
  • Teaching Assistants
